Imam Mu'taz al-Hallaq has been a da'ee for the past 28 years, in which 25 of those years were in the United States. He is one of the gems of the Muslim community and has had the honor of studying under many prominent 'Ulama of our time, including, but not limited to, Shaykh Al-Albani, Shaykh Ibn Baz, Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen and many others. 

Imam Mu'taz was born in Syria and grew up studying under various scholars in his area. He memorized the Quran at a young age and received an Ijazah in 1979 from a leading authority in Qira'at. He has served as Imam in the US since 1996. During the course of his community activism, he has been the imam in Arlington, Texas; Bowie, Maryland; and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Currently, he is the imam of the Muslim Community Association of Ann Arbor and Vicinity, where he lives with his family.
